How was your weekend? Mine was spent running around like crazy, hauling an ironing board on my bike, and lifting 27 heavy tables – TWICE!
For the past 10 weeks I’ve been organizing the very first Etsy Made in Leiden market, a part of the Etsy Made Local initiative where Etsy sellers get together on a local market for some live Holiday shopping!
Together with fellow Etsy sellers MeganMcNultyShop, DeCartograaf and Stitchonomy (whom I didn’t even really know before all this!), we put down a great market if I say so myself! I was also selling at the market, but I am very happy to have brought a friend as I was so busy the entire day I barely sat down!
For us 4, the market started on Saturday… with a breakfast at my Studio, before going shopping for the final supplies, blow up balloons, coordinate the delivery of tables at the venue, and make goodie bags! We needed a lot of coffee.
The venue we booked was Scheltema Leiden, an old distillery near the city centre, overlooking the Leiden canals. I was head of planning for the venue and I’m happy to say this was our first choice.
I wasn’t able to get a lot of pictures of the great hall but we managed to pack 38 sellers! It was really cozy and we got to showcase so many different makers, from knitters to illustrators and from jewellery makers to upcycle artists.
The full list of sellers can be found here. Below some I remembered to take a picture of:
DeCartograaf (it was so busy I failed to get a picture without people huddling around her stand!)
… and of course my own stand! *insert shameless Etsy shop plug*
… and it was over so soon, time flew by! It was 7pm before we finally sat down!
My loot that I managed to buy in the 5 minutes of free time I had hahaha
- Card & pocket mirror by Margo Slingerland
- Singer illustration by Kuukeluus
- Mini hoop & thread clippers by Stitchonomy
- … and the wonderful MeesterMaakt got us organizers each 2 handmade Christmas hangers! Thank you so much!
Overall we had a great time, and I’m looking forward to next year already!
